Dostana takes the comedy of errors route. The film is set in the exquisite locales of Miami.Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham must pretend to be a gay couple so they're allowed to rent rooms in an apartment occupied by single, young chick Priyanka Chopra.Priyanka has no problems regarding the ‘happy couple’ staying with her.The trio strikes up a close friendship and all's going well in their little world until both boys realise they've fallen for her. Adding to the confusion she seems to be falling for her boss; that role played by Bobby Deol.
The movie has many hilarious scenes.The first half is filled with gags and goofs every other scene.The most hilarious scenes happen when Kiron Kher comes to the screen.Kirron Kher playing Abhishek's smothering Punjabi mum hams it up but does so very much in keeping with the film's tone. She delivers some of the film's funniest lines and leaves you hurting in the sides.In the second half the story shifts abruptly from comedy to romance.From then on the movie so predictable with some scenes taken from other English flicks.The stereotypical gay characters, it's to the director's credit that the film rarely comes across as mocking or insulting to gay sentiments.Dostana isn't great cinema, nothing close to it, but it puts the fun back into the movies.The movie is definitely worth watching just for the hilarious scenes in it.
